As one of Philadelphians favorite winter traditions, River Rink celebrates 15 years of fun. Open November through February, the rink offers views of the night sky and the scenic skyline. Skate yourself in circles, warm yourself with hot cocoa, and enjoy a Philadelphia Christmas.
Pennsylvania Ballet Presents The Nutcracker
Enjoy a lovely ballet performance of Georgia Balanchine’s, The Nutcracker. Pennsylvania Ballet is one of the few companies nationwide licensed to perform this century-old classic which was first presented by Balanchine’s company in 1954. Before heading home to your Philadelphia apartment, join your favorite characters for tea at the Doubletree Hotel, just across the street from the Academy of Music!
Holiday Light Show at Macy’s Center City
Stroll over to Macy’s and join the locals who gather around the Grand Court for the Holiday Light Show. The show includes thousands of lights and narration by Julie Andrews. After the light show, head to the third floor to see the delightful Dickens Village. Here the whole family can walk through a real-life Christmas Carol.
Latkepalooza
Make your way to the Avenue of the Arts to Latkepalooza to celebrate Hanukkah. Here you are sure to enjoy gourmet latke creations, live music, games, arts, crafts and a special performance by the Jewish Chorale of Greater Philadelphia. 108th Annual Mummers New Years Day Parade
New Year’s Day is about celebrating, and there’s no better place to party than at the Philadelphia’s Mummers Parade. Over 10,000 men and women will twirl, glide, spin and strut up one of the city’s main streets. This will be a remarkably wild parade exciting enough to entertain everybody.
